WinDirStat FAQ

Q

WinDirStat is not showing full folder sizes.

A

Run the program as administrator. Windows restricts access to certain system folders, which may cause incomplete size calculations without admin rights.

Q

The disk scan is very slow.

A

Large hard drives and traditional HDDs require more time to analyze. SSD drives scan much faster. Closing other programs can also improve scanning speed.

Q

Is WinDirStat safe to use?

A

Yes. WinDirStat only analyzes disk usage and will not delete any files unless you manually choose to remove them. It is safe for scanning any internal or external drive.
